ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The world of law can be difficult to understand, interpret, or simply remember. For Airmen, family members, and retirees, the Altus Air Force Base legal office, also known as the judge advocate, is a great resource when legal questions come up regarding official business or personal legal issues.
Many people know that our lawyers and paralegals work closely with law enforcement and commanders across the 97th Air Mobility Wing on a variety of issues, including military and civilian discipline, contracts, labor law, and much more. In addition, the legal office offers valuable personal legal services including: legal assistance, wills, and notaries free of charge. We can come train your unit or private organization on fundraising procedures or ethics pitfalls. We can help you process a claim for property damaged by the Air Force. If our office cannot help you, we can point you in the right direction by just asking.
Common services we offer for active-duty Airmen, dependents, retirees and reservists on Title 10 orders include: free legal assistance advice on a variety of personal legal issues including but not limited to wills, powers of attorney, family law, military benefits, landlord-tenant law, contracts & consumer law, immigration/naturalization law, and tax law. Call or email our office during duty hours to schedule an appointment. Notaries do not require an appointment.
We want to help our service members and their families. It is important to have wills and powers of attorney to ensure that you remain in control of your care and your assets. While we cannot represent you in court or assist you in criminal matters, we can help create documents and answer legal questions. Our services are free and remain confidential under attorney-client confidentiality.
If you have a legal question or need to schedule an appointment, please email us at 97AMW.JA@us.af.mil or call us at (580)-481-7294. We look forward to helping you!
