The Top 3 Council, a mentoring group comprised of senior non-commissioned officers, has created a new award to recognize outstanding performers. The Altus Warrior of the Month award gives supervisors a chance to acknowledge Airmen typically not chosen for awards focused on duty performance as well as volunteerism and education.

Master Sgt. Richard Martin, Top 3 Council president, said any senior non-commissioned officer can put in one of their Airmen (E1-E6) for the award. "The Top 3 executive council votes on the packages each month, choosing a winner who demonstrates outstanding dedication and performance of their job," he explained.

The award was created by Master Sgt. Sandra Scott, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron, after returning from a deployment where the award was given to deserving Airmen.

To submit a candidate for the award, supervisors must submit no more than five bullet statements to Master Sgt. Rholondra Louis, 97th Mission Support Group. The candidate's package is then reviewed and voted on at the executive council meeting.

January was the first month the award was given. Staff Sgt. Brian Peters, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was recognized as Altus Warrior of the Month at a ceremony Jan. 23.
