Members of the Oklahoma National Guard or Reserves are encouraged to nominate companies who enthusiastically support the military and their families for the 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

Fifteen recipients throughout the United States will be selected. The winners typically represent both large and small employers within the public and private sectors.

Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 19.

The winners will be announced in the spring and recognized at the 14th Annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award ceremony Sept. 27 in Washington, D.C.

Instituted in 1996 by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the award aims to honor various companies who graciously support national security and military efforts.
