There are stories to be told Published Nov. 2, 2006 By Joshua Alberstadt 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs ALTUS AFB, Okla. -- Boasting a full selection of everything from educational and reference books to classic literature, anyone with base access and an I.D. card can make use of the Altus Air Force Base library. The library offers a 22,000 volume library, computers and reading programs for children. Adults can increase their technical knowledge on everything from car repair to computer skills. Entertainment for the whole family is abundant as well. The library has a large selection of DVD and VHS videos, music CDs and audio books available for checkout for four days at a time. Can't find what you're looking for? Knowledgeable library technicians are available to help locate books, or you can use a computerized search system located near the front desk. The library staff also borrows books from other base libraries. Eight computers with internet access are available for patrons for email or to browse the world-wide web. The library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Thursdays and holidays. For information, call 487-6302.
