ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 97th Air Mobility Wing conducted a flyaway of its fleet in response to potential inclement weather, launching 29 aircraft throughout the day on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.The aircraft were flown to various safe locations as determined by availability, proximity and capability. The rest of the 97th AMW fleet were either hangared or away on missions. The weather proved to be less severe and all evacuated aircraft were recalled, returning to base early morning Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Altus Air Force Base personnel, assets and facilities sustained no injuries or damage as a result of the inclement weather.
