Altus AFB scheduled to conduct active shooter exercise

ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 97th Air Mobility Wing is scheduled to conduct an active shooter exercise Dec. 11, 2013.

All base gates may be closed for 30 to 45 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. All base personnel and visitors on the installation are encouraged to avoid base entry or exit during this time. Base personnel, students, residents and visitors may also hear exercise alerts and alert radio messages.

In addition to gate closures, the medical clinic, base exchange, commissary and banks may also be affected by the exercise. The medical clinic will have limited morning hours Dec. 11, but will still be available to fill prescriptions. Individuals are encouraged to make arrangements as necessary.

Additional customer service interruptions at base facilities should be expected during the exercise.
