  • From ground to air: Altus’ MDT protects Air Force cyberspace

    The 97th Communications Squadron is tasked with protecting Altus Air Force Base’s cybersecurity year-round, whether it’s from aircraft in the sky or network client systems on the ground. The 97th CS Airmen ensure all forms of communications are operational and secure in order to aid in the wing’s mission of training the next generation of exceptional mobility Airmen.
  • 97 AMW hosts 1st Honorary Commander Immersion Day

    The 97th Air Mobility Wing hosted its first Honorary Commander Immersion Day, Oct. 14, 2020. The tour was built to immerse the honorary commanders in the various mission sets around the wing. For this immersion day, they focused solely on the 97th Mission Support Group. The group provides support for C-17 Globemaster III, KC-135 Stratotanker, and KC-46 Pegasus aircraft and base-wide infrastructure, including communications, civil engineering, law enforcement, fire protection, contracting, disaster response, environmental, and several more.
  • One Force, Many Origins: A1C Delos Santos develops AF connections

    Nationwide recruitment is the lifeblood of the United States military; it allows members from across the nation to be trained for and assigned to military missions around the world. For some service members, this process is reversed, where they come from countries outside the U.S. and then join the military. U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Antonette Joanne Delos Santos, an air freight specialist assigned to the 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She spent the first 21 years of her life there and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering before moving with her family to the U.S. in 2018.

    The Oklahoma Department of Commerce Aerospace and Defense, and Aerospace Commerce and Economic Services representatives toured Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, on October 7, 2020.
  • Altus AFB tests water quality: ensures safe drinking water

    The 97th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron, Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight takes monthly water samples to help manage safe drinking water at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
  • 97 CES encourages fire safety; hosts Fire Prevention Week

    The 97th Air Mobility Wing celebrated Fire Prevention Week Oct. 4 – 10, 2020 across the installation. Altus AFB Fire and Emergency Services hosted several events for Fire Prevention Week consisting activities involving both the military and civilian personnel. The week included a walkthrough of the child development center, fire extinguisher demos, the Base Fire Marshal Challenge, The Eagles and Chiefs’ challenge, fire muster and a base parade.
  • 97 AMW Hispanic Heritage Spotlight - TSgt Ezekiel Brito

    National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors are from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. However, for U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Ezekiel Brito, the NCO in charge of KC-135 Stratotanker aircrew development, assigned to the 97th Training Squadron, every day is Hispanic Heritage month for him and his family.
  • 54th ARS unveils new facility renovations

    The 54th Air Refueling Squadron held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the unveiling of their building renovations, Oct. 1, 2020. During the renovations the 54th ARS continued student training by utilizing other facilities until the complete overhaul was accomplished.
  • CES showcases environmental friendly programs

    The 97th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental office showcased their projects to the 97th Air Mobility Wing Vice Commander, U.S. Air Force Col. Jason Pavelschak and the 97th Mission Support Group Commander, Col. David Vanderburg on Sept. 21, 2020. The group toured the base’s hazardous waste disposal site, recycling center and a recently implemented fishing pond. This allowed base leadership to view firsthand the environmental office’s projects under way, as well as future projects in the works.
