11/10/2009 - ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla -- With the busy, and expensive, holiday shopping season just around the corner, Army & Air Force Exchange Service gas stations worldwide are helping to make sure that the fill up doesn't empty the wallet.

In addition to the five cents a gallon discount that Military Star Card holders already enjoy every time they fuel up, steeper discounts are being offered three times before the New Year.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, military shoppers using their Military Star Card can take advantage of 11 cents off per gallon of fuel. From Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 as well as Dec. 28 - Jan. 1, the savings soar to 20 cents per gallon for those purchasing with their Military Star Card.

"These discounts couldn't come at a better time," said AAFES' Chief Operating Officer Mike Howard. "Because the Military Star Card is an exchange product, it provides unique opportunities to deliver unprecedented savings opportunities like these to authorized drivers."

That may be true for you in Altus Tim but here in Europe this deal is huge since we're paying the US average for gas which is currently over 3.00 a gallon. Thanks AAFES

2nd attempt at comment. This is a nice idea however on the 11th AAFES raised their gas price from 2.37 to 2.42. Then with the .11 savings it came to 2.31. The downtown stations were at 2.36 and if you pay cash or use a gift card you get .03 off per gallon anyways so the downtown savings would have been 2.33. So the AAFES savings worked out to only .02 cents per gallon or about .40 cents for a 20 gallon fillup. It is still a nice effort though.
