Car pool from the Child Development Center

Parents and families interested in car pooling from the child development center to Mendel L. Rivers Elementary School on base are in luck.

Due to the discontinuation of transportation from the CDC to Rivers for this year's prekindergarten, some parents felt they were in a bind. For many military parents, the work day starts at 7:30 a.m., and the Rivers prekindergarten starts at 8 a.m.

"Leadership wanted to organize something so parents could find a car pool if they needed one." said Mr. Robert Bowers, Altus AFB school liaison officer.

Colonel Noel Zamot, 97 Air Mobility Wing Mission Support Group commander, said previously that Bowers would engage the Rivers administration to try to find a solution that works for all parties. Bowers is organizing a list of interested parents who can organize their own car pools from this central list.

"I will take the information, hopefully includes e-mail addresses, and I will electronically send it to all who call. The parent will need to make contact from that point; because parents will have specific requests, they will be the only ones to know if a car pool will meet their needs."

If you have a child who is entering the Rivers prekindergarten program this fall, and you would like to put your name on the contact list for car pools, call Robert Bowers, 481-6760.
