Jonathan Tamblyn 97 OSS ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- C-17 Globemaster III and KC-135 aircrews started flying a new training pattern yesterday on the west side of the base, including portions over of the city of Altus. The aircraft will be flying at an approved 2,900-foot Mean Sea Level. The new flying pattern was environmentally assessed as part of the General Plan-Based Impact Analysis Process in 2009 and was found to have no significant impact to the general public. The flying pattern will increase Altus visual flight rules pattern training capacity and flexibility.
