Altus AFB is holding a four-day professional enhancement seminar for the master sergeant-selects this week in the Freedom Community Center. The classes started Aug. 4 and will continue through Aug. 7.

The seminar includes classes on ethics, the Air Force Core Values and military law, and also covers mentorship and stress management.

The schedule allows the inductees to review information that will help with their career progression and prepare them for a larger managerial role in their work centers.

"Through education and leadership, we allow senior NCOs to get the most out of the information," said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Craig Hawley, 97th Force Support Squadron career assistance advisor. "Networking is a huge part of leadership and this seminar helps with building leadership skills because there are members of different Air Force specialty codes in the classes, adding to that networking concept."

The networking also gives the students additional avenues to gain information and connections for mentorship.

"The organizations are giving us information to help our Airmen and giving us guidance on our requirements as senior NCOs, helping to prepare us for the next step in our careers," said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Travis Padgett, 97th Air Mobility Wing NCO in charge of ground safety.

The seminar is designed to give inductees the tools needed to become better leaders in the Air Force.

"They're giving us a better look of how we fit into the big picture as senior NCOs," said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Richard Bernard, 97th Operations Support Squadron NCO in charge of wing tactics.
