The Freedom Community Center will host a free photography class in the Cimarron room Friday, July 18, 2014.

This class is part of a monthly photography series and this month's theme is portraits. The series has included topics such as basic operation of the camera, flower photography and painting with light.

The series started as a community outreach program in March, but later partnered with the Airman Initiative program to allow all Airmen to participate, even if they do not have their own camera.

"Maybe the Airmen will want to do photography as a job when they get out of the Air Force," said April Shobe, FCC director. "Photography is really big right now and people always want photographers."

"We tried to cover a spectrum of interests and arranged the program so that each class is geared toward a specific interest instead of having one class that touches on everything," said Grace Gunter, FCC recreation specialist.

The class is open to all interested Airmen.

"As long as there is an interest and we have an instructor, the classes will continue," said Shobe.
