Spouse Advisory Panel gives voice to military spouses Published May 1, 2014 By Airman 1st Class J. Zuriel Lee 97th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 97th Force Support Squadron's Spouse Advisory Panel is a group of military spouses that serve as representatives from each of the squadrons to express their opinions and concerns on ideas that would benefit Altus AFB. Examples of their involvement in helping the base include assisting in the opening of the base pool last summer and requesting the play center for children in the Freedom Community Center. "I appreciate the panel because I feel like they care what we think and they give us a chance to express our opinions on what we see the base needing," said Lisa Davis, Key Spouse representative for Wing Staff Agencies and the 97th Comptroller Squadron. "It's a great way for FSS to get feedback on a regular basis. I think it's great that they are willing to have a forum where you can go to express needs and opinions." The panel meets quarterly to address and formulate solutions for concerns and issues. "The point is to find solutions, answer questions and address concerns that Air Force spouses might have," said Heather Miles, FSS publicity and sponsorship coordinator, who serves as a liaison for the panel to find answers for their questions. "It's great networking for spouses. This is a way for spouses to know that their voices are being heard and that someone is listening and trying to address the concerns they may have." The panel is open to all spouses. The next meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Freedom Community Center.
