The 730th Air Mobility Training Squadron recently moved into another building through a cost-savings, self-help project.

The 730th originally shared a building with the 97th Operations Group commander and vice commander, but in anticipation of the proposed KC-46 mission, the 730th was proactive and moved in with the 58th Airlift Squadron.

"If Altus AFB is selected as the KC-46 Formal Training Unit, manning in our squadron would increase and moving into this building gives us room to grow for a potential new mission," said U.S. Air Force Maj. Bryan Bailey, 730th commander.

The 730th moved into the 58th building at low cost.

"The entire move, including the paint on the walls, new carpet, furniture, the sign on the side of the building and new decals cost us less than $1,500," Bailey said. "I'm really proud of how this base came together to make this move possible."

The project took two months to complete, including coordination, getting keys and the actual move.

"We were fortunate to get a lot of help from the 97th Training Squadron students," Bailey said. "On our drill weekends and unit training assemblies, we loaded up trucks and brought them [to the 58th]."

Brig. Gen. John Flournoy Jr., 4th Air Force commander, and Col. Mark Sigler, 452nd Operations Group commander, visited the base to help celebrate the ribbon-cutting and opening of the new 730th.

"It doesn't matter what patch you're wearing because we all have that one mission to do, and that's to take care of business on a regular basis," Flournoy said.
