Altus renames street to honor fallen Airman
ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Maj. Randy Wardak, 97th Communications Squadron commander, unveils a replica of the new Bubacz Street sign at Wings of Freedom Park here April 7. The street running alongside the 97th CS building, formerly known as 5th Street, was designated as Bubacz Street to honor Staff Sgt. Andrew S. Bubacz, who was the first and only Altus Airman to date to die while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The replica of the street sign was presented to Ashley Bubacz, widow of Sergeant Bubacz, who died Nov. 12, 2010, while deployed to Afghanistan. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Kenneth W.
