Fabrication specialists enhance Altus maintenance mission
ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Dean Westover, 97th Maintenance Directorate A-Team sheet metal mechanic, replaces a hinge on a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft landing gear follow-up door at Hangar 517, Feb. 24, 2015. When the main landing gear retracts into the bottom of the plane, these doors are linked together so they fully enclose the wheel opening. By keeping an eye on things that wear and break, the fabrication flight is able to avoid a larger and more extensive repair process. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Megan E. Acs/Released))
