Three-year-old Ryan Hamil was ripped out of a bathtub by a tornado, where he and his family huddled, and landed in a lake 60 yards away May 24, 2011. The radiosonde travels up with the weather balloon to transmit data back to a computer telling the wind speed, atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity.

The weather balloon is made from latex, when released it expands on its way up and soon burst then sends the radiosonde back down to the earth.

Gary Messer, 97th Medical Group NCO in charge of occupational and environmental health, performs a routine calibration of the 451P Geiger counter that measures the amount of radiation in the room. The 451P is used during an emergency response and radiation survey to determine the amount of radiation in an area.
