An aerial photo of Altus Army Airfield, c.1944. In the first row of tar paper shacks in the foreground are believed to be the hospital and classrooms used by the cadets. The main water tower is near the current Freedom Community Center. Notice the large building with the curved roof to the right of the water tower. It was the movie theater, it sits near the current Veteran’s Theater. None of the buildings pictured exist on the base today.
