Altus Air Force Base will be conducting an airfield pre-burn this weekend, March 29 or March 30, subject to weather conditions.

In preparation of the Altus Airpower Stampede Open House and Air Show on April 12-13, the performer Tora! Tora! Tora! requires an airfield pre-burn seven days prior to their performance.

The Air Force Wildland Fire Center will have their team on site on March 29 and March 30 to help train and assist Altus AFB firefighters throughout the pre-burn.

Smoke and flames are expected during the pre-burn so do not be alarmed if smoke or flames are visible from the Altus AFB airfield during this time.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Altus AFB Public Affairs at (580) 481-7700, or by email at 97amw.pa@us.af.mil.

The 97th Air Mobility Wing serves as “Mobility’s Hometown,” training 70% of the Air Force’s mobility aircrew on the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-135 Stratotanker, and KC-46 Pegasus.
