Altus Air Traffic Controllers Change it Up
97th Air Mobility Wing
Feb. 12, 2015 | 1:11
We’ve all heard the expression take a walk in someone else’s shoes, but what about taking a flight in someone else’s aircraft. Air Traffic Controllers assigned to the 97th Operations Support Squadron recently took to the skies above Southwestern Oklahoma to see what life was like on the other side of the monitor.
“We set up this flight quarterly for the controllers for them to be able to get airborne to get up here and to see the other side of the picture.”-Maj. Daniel Elder, Assistant Director of Operations, 97th Operations Support Squadron.
And what does seeing the other side of the picture do?
“What it does for us is just blend everything together and just shows us a different perspective on how operations are run we got to see the loadmaster side the pilot side and just its a lot more than you can really imagine half the time. –SrA Garrison Medina Air Traffic Controller-97 OSS.
But this flight is more than just seeing, it’s about enhancing relationships.
“For us it’s a relationship of understanding , yes absolutely because we want to make sure what we’re doing is going to help them fly better and make the mission more successful and make it easier on them.”
Senior Airman Robert Gunn, Altus AFB Oklahoma.
