97th Mission Support Group

The 97th Mission Support Group is the largest and most diverse team at Altus Air Force Base comprised of more than 1,173 military and civilian personnel across six Squadrons.  Our six units embody the “Sleeves Up…Hands Dirty” motto and provide mission support for our nation's air mobility training mission and decisive combat capabilities.  The Group supports the installation’s C-17, KC-135 and KC-46 aircraft operational and training missions as well as base wide infrastructure support activities to include communications, civil engineering, law enforcement, force/fire protection, contracting, disaster response, environmental services, lodging, transportation, recreation, supply, education, mobility, food service as well as family and personnel support.

The 97th Civil Engineer Squadron provide facilities and infrastructure maintenance, design and construction activities, utility services, emergency management, fire protection, environmental stewardship, housing referral and privatized housing liaison, unaccompanied housing management and fire protection services.

The 97th Communications Squadron provides outstanding support for focused communications and information technology planning, implementation, maintenance and support, records management, airfield radar systems support, and provides reliable and responsive communications and information technology and combat capabilities.

The 97th Force Support Squadron provides top quality manpower, civilian personnel, military personnel, lodging, dining, education, professional development, library, and family support, child care, youth services, sports and fitness, and leisure and recreation services.

The 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron provides aircraft fuels, air operations, vehicle operations and maintenance, traffic management, supply management and warehousing, installation deployments, and readiness functions.

The 97th Security Forces Squadron provides security for aircraft, and provides force protection and law enforcement operations, physical security, antiterrorism, criminal investigations, combat arms training and maintenance, explosives and drug detection for more than 10,000 active duty military, Department Of Defense civilians, contractors, family members and retired personnel in the community

The 97th Contracting Squadron provides procurement and manages contracts for supplies, services and construction, ensures compliance with applicable laws, oversees the government purchase card program, promotes Air Force small businesses and competition goals, and protects the taxpayer.
