    Members of the 97th Operations Group at Altus, AFB, Okla. embraced the spirit of the season by donating and celebrating their annual children’s Christmas party on Dec. 14, 2019. Over 220 children attended the event and as part of the festivities, they gathered 63 gifts fulfilling the wish lists of 35 children at the Tipton Children’s Home, Tipton, Okla.

  • AAFB leaders present flight simulators to aspiring Airmen

    Altus High School Junior ROTC Flight OK-941 received three X-Plane 11 Simulator/Trainer Units during an unveiling celebration at AHS on Nov. 21, 2019. The simulators were funded by the Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program through the 97th Air Mobility Wing, and are programed to help educate cadets and students on the possibilities of an aviation career with a unique hands on learning experience.
  • 97 AMW, AAFES partner to enhance local BX

    Airmen from across the 97th Air Mobility Wing “rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty”, volunteered time and hard work to the update the Base Exchange and Shoppette at Altus Air Force Base, Okla. Airmen from the 97th Civil Engineer Squadron, 97th Force Support Squadron, 97th Contracting Squadron and 97th Security Forces Squadron teamed up with local Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) management to renovate the Altus BX in order to provide Airmen and their families with enhanced product and service selections chosen in a 2018 survey.
  • Altus Maintenance leads first KC-46 landing gear strut removal

    The KC-46A Pegasus will take off and land approximately 1,250 times a year during mobility training at the 97th Air Mobility Wing. In turn, this creates strain and wear on the aircraft parts, something the Altus maintenance team constantly keeps close eyes on. The 97th AMW Maintenance Group KC-46 ATeam accomplished a milestone task for the KC-46 program Oct. 8, 2019, when removing a KC-46 landing gear strut for the first time at Altus Air Force Base, Okla.

    Pilots and flight attendants from the 89th Airlift Wing made a special visit to Mobility’s Hometown on Nov. 7 to educate, recruit and showcase their mission to Mobility Airmen of the Mighty 97th.
  • Mobility’s Hometown hosts 19 AF command team

    Mobility’s Hometown welcomed distinguished guests, U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Craig Wills, the 19th Air Force commander, and U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Erik Thompson, the 19th Air Force command chief, to the 97th Air Mobility Wing for a tour on Nov. 4 through Nov. 6, 2019, at Altus Air Force Base, Okla.
