ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Airmen and families from across the 97th Air Mobility Wing honored Juneteenth during a block party at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, June 18, 2022. Juneteenth represents an opportunity to celebrate decades of hope, courage, perseverance, healing and progress. This year marks the second year to celebrate Juneteenth since it became a new federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Its historical significance and celebrations date back more than 150 years. During the block party, attendees enjoyed food, music, games, dancing and friendship.
