Airmen from the 97th Air Mobility Wing supported the annual The Sky’s No Limit - She is Anything! diversity outreach event at the Abbotsford International Airport in British Columbia, Canada, April 27-28, 2024.

This two-day event is the largest diversity outreach initiative of its kind and aimed to inspire future female leaders in aviation, aerospace, marine, defense, and other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics focused career fields through hands-on experiences.

One of the activities attendees experienced was a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft static display provided by the 54th Air Refueling Squadron from Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma. At the static display, Airmen from Mobility’s Hometown shared information with participants about their career fields and their day-to-day life as a member of the U.S. Air Force.

“This was a great opportunity for all of us to represent the Air Force and Altus Air Force Base,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jenny Cook, 54th Air Refueling Squadron student training manager superintendent and KC-135 instructor boom operator. “Being able to showcase my job to everyone was such a rewarding experience.”

Five of the six U.S. military branches, the Canadian Armed Services, and several federal and local Canadian law enforcement, fire, and rescue services were in attendance and demonstrated their capabilities to thousands of participants throughout the weekend’s events, in hopes of inspiring the next generation of leaders across all aspects of service.

“My favorite part of this event was getting to talk to so many people and share in their excitement,” said U.S. Air Force Capt. Alexandra Richardson, 54th Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 instructor pilot. “Knowing that you can potentially have an impact and inspire future generations is so exciting, especially when you’re passionate about what you do.”
