We are approaching the Head Quarters Air Education and Training Command Inspector General visit beginning Aug. 15. Everyone has completed their self inspections and developed a road map to getting an Outstanding in their area. Compliance inspections are used to evaluate the ability of units to conduct assigned missions.

We will be evaluated on how well we conduct our mission, employ forces, provide mission support, survive, operate and respond in a hostile environment or other disaster scenario.

I am confident the Mighty 97th will soar. Our day-to-day operations reflect the dedication and determination that has become an Altus trademark. Our recent Air Mobility Command Rodeo trophies testify to our expertise, professionalism and leadership from across the wing at all levels. We are the best at "Forging Combat Mobility Forces and Deploying Airmen Warriors!"

Overall "Satisfactory" is the AETC expectation, but we exceed that every day.

"Excellent" is what we do consistently.

"Outstanding" is a challenge, but obtainable. It will be our way of saying we have prepared for this and this is how Altus conducts business on a daily basis.

Goals:
- "Excellent" on all major exercises and categories: Emergency Management Exercises, Force Protection Conditions, etc.
- "Outstanding" in facilities, dress and appearance standards, safety, etc.
- Nothing less than "Excellent" for each squadron, agency and program
- No repeat findings
- Nothing less than "Satisfactory" on "by law" and commander programs

It's a fact - "There's no second chance to make a first impression."

First impressions make a statement. Look sharp by checking uniforms and appearances are within Air Force guidelines. I realize this is the norm, but one last look will ensure we present the image of Air Force standards to the IG. Your attention to detail shows you have the military discipline and pride to continually complete the mission while exceeding the standards. Your task now is to prove that to the IG.

Remember to show a sense of urgency, especially if you are part of an exercise or disaster scenario. Your performance and attitude will be the difference between an "Excellent" and an "Outstanding."

You deserve to be recognized for your hard work and sustained excellence. Mighty 97th, you are part of a tremendous team, an incredible community and a military organization with a long history of exceeding the standards.

Validate that the Mighty 97th is the "Tip of the Spear."

Team Altus, Venit Hora - The Hour Has Come!
