While many Airmen and their families will travel to spend Thanksgiving with friends and family, there will be many more whose duties will keep them on base for the holiday weekend. For those staying in the local area the Solar Inn dining facility staff will serve a full traditional Thanksgiving lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 27.

The menu will include: steam ship beef round, roast turkey, baked ham, glazed and baked sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, cornbread dressing, green beans and mushrooms, steamed corn, peas and glazed carrots and pumpkin and pecan pie for dessert.

Tech. Sgt. Edward Charping, dining facility manager, says the "spread" will be open to all active duty and TDY personnel, dependents and retirees and their families. Also, meal card holders are authorized to bring family members. The meal will be served by commanders, command chiefs, first sergeants and family members of base leadership.
In years past the Thanksgiving meal has been extremely popular. "We fed about 150 people last year," Sergeant Charping said, "and I've already had calls from people interested in coming this year."

For those who will miss the Thanksgiving meal, the dining facility will serve a similar feast for Christmas.
