Altus AFB to conduct major aircraft mishap response exercise

 The 97th Air Mobility Wing is scheduled to conduct an aircraft mishap response exercise Aug. 20, 2014 on the flight line area. This exercise will be from approximately 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

There will be no gate closures as a result of this exercise. Base personnel may hear alarms from the base installation notification warning system as well as alert radio messages. Also they may see emergency response vehicles responding to the flight line area. Exercise personnel will be using colored smoke and bird cannons to simulate events during the exercise. Personnel should not be alarmed if they hear a large boom, see smoke or emergency response vehicles. Personnel should pay attention to the alert messages and plan accordingly.

This exercise should not impact base functions such as the Base Exchange, Commissary and banks. There may be customer service interruptions at base facilities (Military Personnel Flight/Finance). There will be limited operations in the 97th Medical Group during the day of the exercise and personnel are encouraged to plan accordingly.
