  • Everyone counts in the 2020 Census

    97th Air Mobility Wing Airmen, along with the rest of the nation, will be required to participate in the 2020 Census, April 1, 2020. Military members and their families stationed or TDY to Altus Air Force Base, Okla., are responsible for participating in this count. Altus AFB is expected to have every member counted no later than May 15.

  • Altus Environmental Team use microbes to filter ground water

    Locally, the City of Altus obtains its drinking water from the Tom Steed Reservoir where it is filtered before ready to drink. The 97th Air Mobility Wing additionally maintains its own water filtration system on base specifically designed for ground water, or rather, water not intended for consumption. Located more than 30 feet underground, these large water filters, known as bio walls, use naturally found microbes to purify manmade chemicals from the ground water at Altus Air Force Base, Okla.
  • Mobility aviators inspire youth at Aviation Day

    According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there are about 600,000 active pilots throughout the United States, but that number has been gradually declining throughout the past decade. To work towards an interest in aviation careers, commercial, private and military aviation professionals teamed up to host the third annual Aerospace and Aviation Day, Jan. 25, 2020, at Orlando Sanford International Airport, Fla.

    The mission of the 97th Air Mobility Wing Force Civil Engineer Squadron is to support the men and women of Mobility’s Hometown through its infrastructure.   • AAFB leaders present flight simulators to aspiring Airmen

    Altus High School Junior ROTC Flight OK-941 received three X-Plane 11 Simulator/Trainer Units during an unveiling celebration at AHS on Nov. 21, 2019. The simulators were funded by the Air Force Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program through the 97th Air Mobility Wing, and are programed to help educate cadets and students on the possibilities of an aviation career with a unique hands on learning experience.
