    From May through July of 2023, Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, bid farewell to outgoing group and squadron commanders, and welcomed new commanders during numerous change of command ceremonies.

    Capt. Tyler Stout, 97th Air Mobility Wing executive officer, from Mishawaka, Indiana, commissioned in 2019 from the United States Air Force Academy and plans to stay for the foreseeable future.

    Staff Sgt. Zachary Horton, 97th Security Forces Squadron unit training manager, originally from Mount Pleasant, Texas, started his Air Force career in January 2015, but knew from a young age he wanted to serve his country.

    Staff Sgt. Douglas Gerrity, 58th Airlift Squadron loadmaster instructor, chose to reenlist for another four years to continue his education in health science and achieve his dream of commissioning as a physical therapist.

  • 97 AMW partners with Ft. Sill, Ft. Smith for joint airlift capabilities

    Airmen from the 58th Airlift Squadron and 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron teamed up with Soldiers from Fort Sill, Oklahoma, for a joint-exercise training exhibiting M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems Rapid Infiltration capabilities at Fort Smith, Arkansas, June 13-14, 2023.

    Staff Sgt. Steffen Hillestad, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron deployment plans and programs section chief, chose to re-enlist in the U.S. Air Force this past year and plans to serve for at least 20 years.
